Penn State, the Suffering of Children, and Moral Responsibility

OUR LIVES BEGIN TO END THE DAY WE BECOME SILENT
ABOUT THINGS THAT MATTER

 Dear Piersonites,

I am saddened by what has transpired at Penn State.
I am sickened by what has transpired at Penn State.

There is nothing else to say.
Yet there is so much to do!

[John Agyekum Kufuor]
There has been enough suffering in our country, there has been enough of children whose dreams die before they have a chance to grow.

[Mark 12.28-34]
And one of the scribes came, and having heard them reasoning together, and perceiving that he had answered them well, asked him, “Which is the first commandment of all?” And Jesus answered him, “The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our G-d is one Lord: And you shall love the Lord your G-d with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength: this is the first commandment.” “And the second is like, namely this, You shall love your neighbor as thyself. There is no other commandment greater than these.”

[Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. ]
The first question which the priest and the Levite asked was: “If I stop to help this man, what will happen to me?” But ... the good Samaritan reversed the question: “If I do not stop to help this man, what will happen to him?”

All my Pierson love always,
Master G.
